World Series Eclipse
I spent a few hours last evening in a gigantic mud pit — which I can assure you is not as fun as it sounds. The purpose of my outing was to leave town (and the associated light pollution) and get into the country so that I could try to photograph yesterday’s “World Series” lunar eclipse.
I arrived in my frozen crypt at 8:30pm to allow for camera tinkering time and stayed for two hours, cursing my substandard tripod and listening to the baseball game. As it turned out, I needed the set-up time, because it took me half an hour to figure out the ‘sunny 16‘ rule on my own.
I was initially pretty disappointed with the pictures I took, but looking at stuff like this, I’m not so sure that I should be. With a proper tripod and a better zoom/telescope adapter (the shots above are insanely cropped) things would probably turn out pretty well.

That looks quite cool; did you do it in one frame with multiple exposures, or are those layered crops of several frames?
Thanks — They’re layered crops. Unforunately, I had to crop so much, the pictures lost a lot of resolution during resizing.
