I watched a man picking through the garbage bins outside McDonald’s this evening. Such indecency. Why should someone have to sift through trash cans to scrounge something to eat? It struck me as one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen.

It dawned on me then that he wasn’t looking for food — he was looking for food containers. Specifically, french fry packages and drink cups that still had their Monopoly contest stickers attached.
