Inaugural Donkey Awards
In the spirit of pre-emptive war, one-sided partisanship, and out-and-out greed, I and pleased to unveil today the first of many Donkey Awards™ to deserving individuals and entities that exhibit questionable behaviour.
A tip of the hat to our first two winners: the Republican National Convention and the National Hockey League Players Association. Both are extremely deserving candidates and may, from this moment on, relish the status of this award and the associated spoils of being a Donkey Award™ recipient.
The first-ever winner, the Republican National Convention of 2004, is recognized "for religiously representing falsehoods and exaggerations as fact". It takes a certain level of carelessness, hypocrisy, and evil intent to perform with such consistency. Kudos!
The second award is presented to the National Hockey League Players Association "for their relentless greed and disregard for hockey fans". Like the Republicans, the NHLPA seems single-mindedly concerned with money and lacks concern for long term complications that may arise from short term want.
Thus, it is quite fitting that these two organizations are honoured on the same day. Congratulations to all, and I look forward to presenting additional Donkey Awards™ shortly.

To paraphrase the great Mike Myers (whom, I believe, would "hear hear" you on both counts): "Donkies, you're going the right way for a smacked bottom!"
