Columbine Rebunked?
Michael Moore has come under some fairly heavy fire for alleged creative editing, misrepresentation of facts, and general exaggeration used in Bowling for Columbine.
Moore has taken it upon himself to defend the most common of accusations in a one-by-one fashion: “How to Deal with the Lies and the Lying Liars When They Lie about ‘Bowling for Columbine’”. As far as I can tell, he’s directly rebuking Waco, Texas attorney and author David T. Hardy without actually stating as much (make sure you take a peek at his picture of the day — the shooting of a rattlesnake with an automatic rifle).
Of all his defensive arguments, this one rings the most true for me:
“Total number of lawsuits to date against me or my film by the NRA? NONE. That’s right, zero. And don’t forget for a second that if they could have shut this film down on a technicality they would have.”

I finally saw the movie this summer. Having lived within about 5 miles of Columbine High School on and off over the last 15 years, I have to say that the movie rang pretty true to me. Highly disturbing, but true.
I think I mentioned it in my other post, but the part of the movie that seemed a little questionable to me was the bit about Toronto and the locked doors.
Those people were totally pandering for the camera, because there’s no way I’d be leaving my doors open if I lived on the corner of Younge St. and anywhere.
It is true that a lot of more rural folks don’t lock their houses or doors, but that’s not downtown Toronto.
Er…I don’t think it was downtown Toronto. In fact, I could have sworn they were in Sarnia. No?
Hey…change your main page…still says you will be down on March 31st…sheesh! :)
There was a segment about Sarnia, but I’m pretty sure that the door-rattling bit was in Toronto.
Hmm..okay…sounds like a bet here. Let’s check into it. Loser buys the first meal for the other in Vegas!
Sold! Did I mention that tradition states our first meal is always a double-Jack and coke?
