As you may have heard, BlogSnob was acquired by Adam Kalsey of Kalsey Consulting Group; Arnab Nandi and idya are no longer running the service.

After poking around Adam’s new BlogSnob site, I couldn’t find a privacy policy. Being paranoid as usual, I decided to ask Adam exactly what his thoughts were.

He’s given his blessing to re-post his reply here. Thanks to Adam for the quick (and comforting) response:

Not a published one yet. One wasn’t included when we bought BlogSnob. We’re working one something, but until then, the best I can offer you is this. I’m a staunch advocate of online and offline privacy. I won’t even give my zip code to retail stores when they ask for their marketing surveys.

Your BlogSnob registration information won’t be sold, shared, or rented to third parties. Certain details, like your Web URL and site name are visible to the public as part of the membership list. Since the point behind the service is to promote your site, that’s sort of obvious.

In the future, we may start a member newsletter. We might allow companies to place text advertisements in that newsletter. They’ll know how many people the newsletter goes to, but won’t be given the names or email addresses of those people. So you won’t get spammed as a result of signing up.

Some companies, in the process of providing services to us (like hosting) might have access to your data, but they are contractually bound not to use, abuse, or disclose it.
