Whatever
Is it true? It wouldn’t surprise me. At the very least, it’s worth a laugh. Or cringe…
Paraphrased:
“[Donald Rumsfeld] staffers have been phoning city officials … and strongly urging them to structure Fourth of July celebrations around the war in Iraq.”
Canadians can participate in something equally ridiculous this Canada Day by revisiting proud moments in our history. I humbly suggest Front de Liberation, Western alienation, or the wartime internment of Japanese Canadians.

Clearly the most important event in the history of Canada Day was in front of the Parliament building in 1996 when I was squeezed by a Mountie. (Or, at least, in the history of my celebration of Canada Day. Is it just me?)
Can’t say that it would surprise me in the least to find out that it’s true. Assholes.
