If you want to interact with me on a professional level, I have several very reasonable expectations:

1) Knowledge:
If you ask for my help on an issue, please ensure that you know what the hell you’re talking about. I’m flattered that you might assume I’ll simply find and recursively fix your other problems, though. My current disposition will almost guarantee that I’ll focus on ensuring that everyone else is aware of your inadiquacies.

2) Intelligence:
No, this is not the same as knowledge. I’m talking about a minimum level of competence, and the ability to deductively reason. Let’s say that I have 20 apples and 5 empty boxes; you tell me that there should be a 1:1 relationship between them. Basic math and/or logic should provide you with some insight.

3) Humility:
Arrogance is one of the most dangerous exhibitions you can perform in my presence. Combined with a lack of knowledge and intelligence, you will find my reaction to your displays to be pointed and purposeful — aimed at everyone that could potentially fire you.

Have a nice day.
