A second straight game with 9 penalties against the Leafs… Have the Islanders even scored at even strength?
What else could the officials do to help New York win?
I suppose they could call a penalty shot with 2:20 remaining in the 3rd period of a tied game. That might do it. Sweeten the deal a little, though — Make the call on a play where the player wasn’t on a free and clear breakaway as the rules require:
If a player of the attacking side in possession of the puck shall be in such a position as to have no opposition between him and the opposing goalkeeper, and while in such position he shall be interfered with by a player of the opposing side who shall have illegally entered the game, the Referee shall impose a penalty shot against the side to which the offending player belongs.
NHL Rulebook, Rule 72 (m)
That might do it.

What a rag of a game.You are so right about the penalty shot,and the reffing,it blew.The whole new york love-a-thon thing since 9-11 is wearing thin.We’ve been waiting a long time for the cup,and the shitty calls are not helping the cause.I hear sundin is out,due to that webb freak.I wish tucker or domi would kick his ass and down to business.

Apparently Sundin played game 2 and 3 with the broken wrist. Not much to be said about that except that Toronto gets hosed again.
The Montreal game tonight was also quite disturbing. The McLaren hit on Zednick was absolutely filthy. He should be gone for the playoffs, if not several games next season.
As far as I’m concerned, it was far more violent than Domi’s hit last year in the playoffs…
