Earlier in January we spent an afternoon at St. Raphael’s Ruins in South Glengarry near Cornwall, Ontario.

The church was built in 1786 and was destroyed by fire in 1970, leaving the outer stonework shell.

There’s something a little strange about standing inside a giant building with no roof. I did manage to catch a few bird action shots, though, and Nero enjoyed herself despite the leash.

The area that the church is in is highly religious and there are often very preachy signs on the side of the road. I’ve seen more than one house with a display gigantic lighted “Happy Birthday Jesus” display around Christmas. I don’t usually have a camera with me, but was equipped to snap a shot of this questionable billboard.
