Poor Weak

August 20th, 2004 · 3 Comments

I finally broke down and bought a Nikon D70 camera. Strangely, none of the shops here have ramped up stock since mid-June when I first began searching for it; I could only find one available in the entire city.

I really tried to warm up to the Canon Digital Rebel, but I couldn't bring myself to buy it given the features and performance of the Nikon. If I was going to spend $1500-2000 on a camera, it had to be 'the one'.

After playing with it for a couple of hours tonight, the picture quality is boggling me. The sheer volume of manual controls and gizmos is a bit overwhelming, but I've got a pretty good handle on things. One nitpicky thing -- Mark spoke about a protective cover condensation problem, and it didn't take long for me to experience something similar. All in all, though, an extremely impressive piece of equipment.

I'm taking it out this weekend, so hopefully you'll see some new pictures appear shortly.

Ooh. I'm REALLY looking forward to see the photos you take, especially the full-sized, untouched versions. Congrats! :)

Glad you were finally able to get your new camera. Personally, I've been trying to come up with excuses to buy a Canon 20D.

D: Pictures on the way shortly, I hope.

Andrew: The D20 looks pretty impressive. No excuses needed!
